Slide Shows

All Aarcade themes allow you to easily display slide shows anywhere in your shop, including your home page, without needing any coding knowledge or experience.

The size of your slide shows is controlled by the size of your images, so your slide shows can be any width up to the full width of the theme content area and any height. You can also set options on a per slide show basis to add navigation, styles, captions and links to your slides.

Images and other content

All Aarcade themes allow you to easily add images and other content (text, video, etc.) anywhere in your shop, including your home page, without needing any coding knowledge or experience.

We also have a growing collection of free templates in our Extras section, any of which can be used to create your custom home page content, e.g. with our Blog template you could display your blog posts on your home page instead of your featured products.

Our Insert Content tools allow this content to be inserted by simply adding a new page. For more information, refer to the How do I create a custom home page for my Big Cartel shop?

No hosting required

You do not need to have your own web hosting for your custom media files (slide shows, images, videos, PDFs or other files). Our easy to follow support articles show you how to use a no-cost high quality service to store these files and embed them in your shop content.

Your home page – custom content and product display

Your shop home page is located at the root of your Big Cartel shop domain, for example..

http://my-shop.bigcartel.com

..or if you have a custom domain..

http://www.my-domain.com

All Aarcade themes include the standard control of home page products – via your Big Cartel admin area Featured Products control – which includes settings for product order and also number of products displayed (up to 100 products maximum).

Aarcade themes also provide settings to display the products before or after your custom content (see previous sections of this article) or hide products completely.

Aarcade’s Home page options allow extra control over which products are displayed. For example, show all products with pagination or show products from a particular category only.

With the option to easily hide home page products completely you can display only your custom content. An additional setting allows you to hide the layout elements (header, menus, footer, etc.) to create a splash or “enter” page.
