1. Basic “Customize” Controls

To view your basic “Customize” controls, click the Customize design link at the top right of your Big Cartel admin area:

2.a. Upload a Header Image

If you choose to apply a header image, it will replace your main site title in your shop layout.

You can ignore the suggested header image width that appears in your Customize area. Aarcade’s custom Big Cartel themes are designed to accept varying image heights and widths and may be designed to use the header image in a small logo area rather than a full width header.

To upload a header image, first prepare your image file so that it is the correct size and format before uploading it. Refer to the support articles:

• What is the size of my header area? for the available header area and the options for increasing / decreasing the area.
• Sections Image Editing Tool and Important Preparation of the support article How do I upload images or files for my Big Cartel page content? for the best methods for preparing and sizing your image before to upload.

Click the Add icon () in the Header Image option, locate your desired header image on your computer and proceed with upload.

If the Add icon () is not displayed, this means you have already successfully uploaded a header image. To replace your current header image, click the Delete icon (), delete your current image and then choose the new image file as detailed above.

Note that you must save your changes before your new header image is permanently applied (see Section 7 below).

2.b Header Alignment and Margin

To adjust the alignment and margins of your header (image or text), refer to How do I change the margin and alignment of my header text, image or logo? and What is the size of my header area? (note that some themes include options that increase/decrease the header area).

Customising the font size, type and style of Header “Shop Title” text is covered in section 4. Choose Theme Fonts below.

2.c Advanced Header Content

For complete control over your header image and content, you can use the insert content item x ic header as detailed in the support article Insert Content. This can be useful for applying an animated gif, tag line text or other content to the header area.

2.d. Upload a Background Image

If you choose to apply a background image, first prepare your image file so that it is the correct size and format. Refer to sections Image Editing Tool and Important Preparation of the support article How do I upload images or files for my Big Cartel page content? for more information.

Click the Add icon () in the Background Image option, locate your desired background image on your computer and proceed with upload.

If the Add icon () is not displayed, this means you have already successfully uploaded a background image. To replace your current background image, click the Delete icon (), delete your current image and then choose the new image file as detailed above.

Note that you must save your changes before your new background image is permanently applied (see Section 7 below).

Extra Background Image Settings

By default your image will repeat in your shop background. To change the repeat, position and other settings for your background image, refer to the support article How do I add a background image to my Big Cartel theme?

Some themes will may have a default background image. If you upload a custom image, as described above, it will override this default image.

Alternatively, if you simply want to turn off your default background image, you can do so easily via your Extra Styles section – refer to What are the Extra Styles for my Aarcade Big Cartel theme?

5. Set the Number of Products to Display on Your Home Page

Set the number and order of products displayed on your home page.

Selecting Regular for Featured Products Order allows you to manually set your product order by dragging and dropping your products to the top of the list located in your Products admin area.

6. Set the Number of Products to Display on Your All Products and Category Pages

Set the number and order of products displayed on your “View All” Products and Category pages.

7. Set General Options and Save

Set the general options for your theme including displaying search field, inventory bars, etc. Note that you can mouse over each option to get more details in a pop-up box.

8. Aarcade Custom Options and Features
